ADVANCE PAIN  PAIN MEDICINE FELLOWSHIP 

( course is designed to train candidates in the principles and practice of pain management )

 2. Eligibility: (Basie Qualification for admission) - . MD/ DNB (Anaesthesiology) from a NMC/NATIONAL BOARD recognized college or institute

3. Number of Candidates: 2 per year.  Course would consist of Theory and Practice of intervention for pain management

 4. Admission: selection is based of Interview, biodata, work experience of the applicant ,

                    Aims and Objectives of the Course

        The aim of the course is to impart thorough and comprehensive training to the candidate in the various aspects of  Pain specialty to enable him/her:

(a) To function as a faculty/consultant in the specialty

(b) To carry out and help in conducting applied intervention in the field of Pain Management

(c) To plan and set-up independent pain Unit setup.

(d) To increase standard of care for patients suffering from chronic pain conditions 

Teaching Methods

During the period of training candidates gradually increasing responsibility for independently managing interventional procedure and OPD and IPD patients care.

            The day to day work of the trainees will be supervised by the consultant Incharge and other faculties of International Pain College. The posting is so designed that the trainee get posted in various areas of the pain medicine  like Pain operation theatre, OPD, and  Pain and Palliative ward ,APS in various surgical and medical wards for management of in-house patients suffering  from intractable pain due to medical conditions and management of cancer pain and palliative care to these patients, candidate can take rounds of differenct associated hospital for preparation and postop care of chronic pain patients under the supervision of Pain consultant.

 Attendance:

Minimum 80 % attendance mandatory to appear in exit exam

 Internal assessment:

            The internal assessment will be conducted on the basis of day to day work of the candidate in terms of patient care, teaching, management of patient’s bed side clinical  discussions and research. Candidates will be counseled on their performance to get the best out of them. 

       Internal Assessment test:  3 monthly

 Teaching Programme

         The following teaching programme is prescribed for the course:

Operation theatre 6 days/week, Pain OPD 6 days/week Regular patient centeric one to one teaching, Seminar Once a week, Journal

1 MONTH COURSE DETAILS

 one month offline course on Pain Medicine: “Introduction to Pain Management”

        It is a 1 month course on pain management where stress has been given to the basics of pain management. The syllabus has been designed in such a way that participants are well-trained in the evaluation & understanding of pain management.

          It is an introduction to pain management and we expect participants to learn basic ideas to take care of a chronic pain patient.

 
Eligibility: Applicant must be a medical post graduate (MD/MS/DNB/DIPLOMA IN SPECIALITY) from any recognized university. in the following disciplines: Anaesthesiology, Orthopaedics, , Neurosurgery, Neurology, General Medicine Physical and Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Schedule: The training programme is arranged most frequently.

C-arm guided pain interventions (facet intraarticular & medial branch block), USG guided pain procedures (upper limb), OA knee, Examination of knee, Diagnosis and Treatment of RA, Diagnosis and treatment of Spondyloarthropathy.

 C-arm guided pain interventions (SI joint inj), USG guided pain procedures (knee), Common Shoulder pain, Cervicogenic Headache, Diagnosis and Treatment Fibromyalgia.

C-arm guided pain interventions (Caudal, S1 nerve root inj), USG guided pain procedures (neck/stellate), Neck pain & examination of neck, Examination of shoulder, Acupuncture.

 C-arm guided pain interventions (Lumbar Sympathetic, Rami Communicants block), Common Headache and Classification, Cluster Headache, Migraine.

LIVE CASES DEMONSTRATION, Doubt clearing on live cases, common hand and leg pain, Examination of Hand and leg, Palliative care in cancer pain.

C-arm guided pain interventions, (Discography), Cancer Pain Management, Celiac Plexus & Superior Hypogastric, Stellate & T2-T3 sympathetic.

3 MONTHS FELLOWSHIP

3 Months’ fellowship in pain management

Following are the course of 3 months fellowship:

1. Examining new patients at OPD and planning management protocols. Each participant will take responsibility of some patients in rotation and will follow them up during subsequent visits. 

2. They should assist in interventional procedures.

3. When there will be indoor patients at associated hospital, they should visit these hospitals by their own and do/take pre & post procedural prepration & care.

3. They will be visiting admitted in-patients routinely in morning and evening at Hospitals. They will be rotated in different affiliated hospitals.

4. Some of them may be allowed to do interventional procedures under supervision of seniors in later period, if possible under certain conditions, like picking of skill of the individual participants and certain other factors.

5. They will be maintaining log book of all patients they see and all interventional procedures they do or assist and their follow-up.

6. They must write at least one articles for pain awareness.

7. They must be involved in some research works & publishing at least one article in peer-reviewed journal.
